As part of our UX Team strategy over the coming 2 years, the Coaching Team will:
- Articulate a clear definition of what BIH’s blended approach to coaching is.
- Invest in training, skills, and ways of working that will equip our coaches to deliver the BIH coaching approach.

The digital product will continue to evolve removing many of the current blockers to brilliant coaching experiences. These changes are intended to dramatically improve our user experience by elevating the coaching role and quality of session delivered.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Senior Coaching Manager, the Coaching Lead will play a key role in guiding, mentoring, and supporting a team of our incredible Coaches to deliver great experiences for our users. You'll focus on both the quality and consistency of sessions, helping your team meet agreed goals while creating a positive, open culture. As our coaching model continues to evolve alongside the digital product, you’ll help shape what great looks like - leading by example, modelling brilliant coaching, and acting as a supportive and trusted voice for your team.
We’re looking for someone with strong, hands-on leadership experience - someone who has successfully led teams in coaching, mentoring, or support-focused environments and brings confidence in setting expectations, supporting performance, and managing team dynamics. You’ll need to be comfortable working through change and ambiguity, and excited to contribute to something that's growing and improving all the time.
This role will best suit someone who has already stepped into team leadership, and is ready to take ownership of a delivery-focused role from day one.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and coach a team of up to 8 coaches, serving as their primary point of contact for guidance, performance management, and development support.
- Create a positive team culture by facilitating open communication, development conversations, and a strong sense of shared purpose.
- Ensure your team members complete and maintain required training, and support them to embed learning in their daily practice.
- Role model great coaching practice, demonstrating openness to feedback and a commitment to ongoing improvement.
- Deliver brilliant coaching sessions to our end users - up to 50% of your time will be dedicated to delivery, depending on seasonality and team needs.
- Proactively manage your team’s caseloads using data insights and established processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by challenging existing practices and identifying opportunities for simplification or innovation.
- Share insights, challenges, and successes with fellow Coaching Leads to foster a collaborative and solution-focused team approach.
- Support recruitment efforts to maintain a pipeline of excellent coaches who align with our values and contribute to a culture of coaching excellence.
- Work closely with the broader Coaching Team to align delivery with strategic objectives and project milestones.
- Lead or contribute to improvement projects and cross-team initiatives that support our organisational goals.
- Represent the Coaching Team in external-facing activities such as awareness webinars, client demonstrations, and user demos.
- Seek out opportunities to share your team’s experiences and successes across the organisation to inform service and business development.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience managing a team, ideally in a fast-paced or evolving environment. You’ll need to bring strong leadership behaviours, clear decision-making, and the confidence to support, guide, and hold others to high standards.
- Relevant coaching qualification or equivalent experience in associated sectors.
- A passion for improving users’ lives with coaching practice and brilliant digital tools.
- Proficiency in utilising data to inform delivery.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with keen attention to detail.
- The ability to manage and prioritise your time (and your team’s time), work to strict deadlines and see things through to completion.
- Confidence and enthusiasm when presenting to groups and individuals.
- Experience in seeking and delivering constructive feedback, and the ability to role model it throughout the team.
- Proficiency in mobile technology and familiarity with assistive technology, recognising its potential to improve efficiency and transform lives.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and a caring and pragmatic approach to managing safeguarding incidents.
